Top 10 Legal Software in the UK

My first encounter with the UK, as a country, has happened in 2003, way before I've landed in New York. What I remember about my stay in the UK was the super clean streets, even in a city like London, very windy weather up in Norwich, the Queen's garden, the super long hot dogs and super tasty jelly donuts. Everything was so new and exciting to a girl coming from a small East European city. But this article is not about the Buckingham Palace and surely not about the jelly donuts. Instead, I will try to take a look into the legal software legal professionals rely on in the UK.

This journey around the world has been quiet exciting. To me, it seems like the latest events made the world even smaller and accessible and I feel very excited about that. Thus, although it seems like there is a huge discrepancy between how these two countries are showing up in the world, the legal side of them chooses Clio among all others, choice that brings Clio to the top 10 in this specific qualification. I personally also had a very good experience with this cloud-based legal practice management and can see why it is somewhat preferred over the others. However, as a young professional, I've felt like what was missing was the social aspect. If Clio would have given a way for the team members to also interact and exchange knowledge, it would have been a winner in many more aspects. But again, this is my insight and you are free to judge it based on your needs.

The next one down the line is BQE Core Legal. I personally never encountered a client who is using this legal software in the US, however, I find that what it stands for is pretty great. Here we have a platform where Business meets AI allowing the interface for data entry with ease and real time updates. Just envisioned for a moment the concept of the "thinking machines''. This particular legal software allows you, among other things, to simplify time management and expense tracking, and have human-like conversations with your software to quickly uncover actionable insights any time you want.

SmartAvocate, which comes up as number three on our research list, is a legal software that allows law firms to choose between the cloud and server version. I see it as a perfect solution for someone who would like to use this software, but is not filling comfortable with having the data store in the cloud. We won't get into the "why the cloud is better or not" question now, however I wanted to point out this difference and let you know that it is a possibility. Another thing that I found unique about this legal software was the possibility of knowing at glance exactly where each case stands.

PracticePanther is another legal software that came up in our research and that we've discussed about in one of our previous articles.

This is why we will move on to the next one which is ProTempus. Here is another legal software that positions itself as keeping the data on the legal network rather than floating on the cloud.

And Denovo, a legal software that didn't come up too often in the past. This is a legal software that allows legal professionals to simplify their practice, capture more time and increase productivity. How does it do that? By allowing users to create smart events with workflow style automations in mind, client communication with CaseLoads Relationship Management, integration with DocuSign and Amiqus.

The App4Legal software is another unique platform that focuses on the needs of both law firms and in-house legal departments. In addition, what sets it apart from the other platforms is its multiple languages and multiple currencies support.

Another leading Case, Practice, Matter and Process Management software provider in the UK is Proclaim. This software markets itself as a solution for a vast range of sectors, incorporating legal, Alternative Business Structures, Commercial, Government and charitable. It also seems like the perfect solutions for one who is looking to meet the following business' needs:

  •     streamline processes;
  •     automate tasks;
  •     manage risk and compliance;
  •     keep the integrity of critical data;
  •     and not least important need of making more money for the organization.

Captorra is qualified as a premier case intake and lead conversion software solution for law firms specializing in mass tort, PI, bankruptcy, criminal defense, and immigration. This software is pretty straightforward and specially designed for case intake and lead management process.

And finally, last but not least important is Jarvis Legal. A legal software that is known for helping law firms run their practice efficiently. Most of this software features are similar to the ones we've discussed above, however, what differentiates it from many of the other platforms is the collaborative editing, conflict management and trust accounting.

Many of you may find this insight redundant, overwhelming and maybe unnecessary to some extent. However, our purpose is not to sell you one platform over the other and not even convince you of the fact that you may need one. Instead, we find it a part of our company's mission to keep you informed and assist you with making the right decision.

Do you find todays' legal software market too overwhelming or confusing? We would like to hear your thoughts on this!
