We Do Remember!

I was in a dorm room full of teenagers when the local TV channels, the only one we had access to at that time, broke the news about the "Twin Towers". Little did we know about existence of the towers, but it was clear to us that something outrageous had happened. It was 2001, and being depraved of the worldwide worth news was kind of a trend if you were born in an East European country. And just a few years later, I found myself in New York witnessing a new World Trade center emerge. We are talking about 20 years worth of history, 13 of which cover my personal history of living just a few minutes away from where "the history had happened". To me, the World Trade Center s an organic entity that keeps evolving, emerging and transforming itself every single day and I do find beauty in that. But today, I won't talk about history. Today I am present to "what is". Every single day in our lives we encounter crucibles that turn our worlds upside down, they break us, they take away the people and things we love the most. But I know for a fact, that the same crucibles bring changes, make us better, more human; they make us remember those that sacrificed their lives so that we can have the lives "we live" today.
